Fences Down Again

The vines had grown to the top of the fence. They’d grown over the fence and into the deck. They’d killed the grill, made the chairs impossible to sit in. They’d clogged the downspouts and were slowly but surely taking over the fabric of the house itself, prying wood from wood with their deceptive greenness.

Had a good weekend. Cason and Katie had our family over for lunch Saturday. After that, we laid low and watched a couple movies, something we never get the time to do anymore. Saw The Darjeeling Limited tonight, which I loved. Brought me back to India.

everything is just — unsettling. I’ve got a nice buzz on — partly vodka, partly oxycodone.
But I should be nearly unconscious, which as you can see, I’m not.
It’s been a weird and [bleep]ty week, as you are aware.

After a while, the houses all start to run together. The street names–Greenwood, Woodlawn, Greenland, Riverwood, Creekwood, Woodwood, Woodforest, Forestwood, Forestforest, Forestlawn, Lawndale, Dalewood, Woodgreen, Greenwood–all seem to come full circle after a while. Did we drive down this street already? Did we look at that house already?

I've been cleaning up a lot around here lately, trying to make room for the fiance, who's moving here when we get married in late June. So far, I've cleaned off one shelf of a bookshelf [still!], sold my CD player and speakers, and gotten rid of a lot of miscellaneous junk that I don't really want him to replace with junk of his own.

Weekend at Cades Cove
