NURTURE NATURAL ART IN NASHVILLE!!

Art-nonymous is a new art group in Nashville. The purpose of this
group is to create fun art and performance events you can participate
in anonymously, and to spice up the Nashville art scene.

MEETING PLACE & TIME:
-at 5:45 pm Saturday May 24th
-in the parking lot on the right hand side of Comfort Inn on Music Row

ABOUT:
We are planning a pro-nudity in art "demonstration" to take place this
Saturday May 24th, meeting and 5:45 pm at the parking lot across the
street from the Musica sculpture, and marching to the sculpture for a
pro-art anti-protest. Musica is near music square & Demonbreun.

Why Musica??? The Musica sculpture is one one the most amazing and
beautiful permanent art exhibits in Nashville, and yet it is
surrounded by controversy! There have been those in Nashville who have
said the sculpture would violate the city's obscenity laws if it were
not categorized as "art." It even bears the rude nickname "Hillbilly
Porn"...

"What I intended, in very simple terms, was to convey the sense of joy
and exuberance that music gives us, and it had to be something that
lasted for all time, not something that was specifically one kind of
music," Alan LeQuire, the sculptor of Musica, said in The City Paper.
"It had to represent all kinds of music."

Many artists in our community have felt censored in issues relating to
nudity, and now is the time to PLAYFULLY and RESPECTFULLY make a
statement!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
As we are an anonymous group, your identity should be concealed with
masks, black eye masks, wigs, hats, etc.

Here are ideas for materials to make signs.....

1.duct tape
2.a dowel, plastic rod or, my favorite, the five gallon paint stick
stirrer from a hardware store (they are free) - whatever will work for
you for a handle
3.piece of white posterboard, or a cardboard box (will probably need
an exacto to cut), or if you want to get fancy, two pieces of foam
core (of which an exacto would be needed here too) markers, fat
permanent ones if you are buying them specifically for this
4. glue and anything else you can think of that you might need.

Come up with a creative way to express your thoughts on nudity being
more freely expressed within the realms of fine art, without
censorship.
Knock yourself out!

Bring your "anonymous" bodies and "signs" of visual words supporting
uncensored art and the free representation of the human body as fine
art. We will march from the meeting point across the street at the
pedestrian crossing, up the restaurant side of Music Row (catch some
interest hopefully) and circle around/hang out/"demonstrate" around
the circle. Then when we are ready, we'll march down the other side
back to the parking lot.

*** Please remember to be respectful of this particular sculpture as
well. We are pulling together in a humorous fashion to support censor-
free art in Nashville :)

Also, anyone interested in the event but NOT interested in protesting/
participating is very welcome to photograph, video or otherwise record
the event.
