Just did some research on rainfall statistics for 2008 versus 2007. There has been some 'angst' over the lack of rainfall lately. While some of us were a bit short for June, lets visit the numbers for just my station.

Taking the period from January 1st to June 30th.
2007 Rainfall-15.67"

Temperatures are in the middle 40's this morning on the Cumberland Plateau. Even though it is cool, the skies are clear and temperatures will warm QUICKLY today.

We are watching the potential for big storms to move into Tennessee overnight tonight. The greatest risk at this time is lightning and heavy downpours.

Tight pressure gradients ahead of a front will cause winds to increase significantly today. 15-25 mph will be the rule and we can't rule out gusts of 35 mph.

Temperatures will be very warm...approaching 80° today and Friday.

Be careful if you head to the lake or drive a high-profile vehicle.

With temperatures expected to be in the lower 30's again tonight, it seems more like early March than almost May!

This should be the last time we'll have to cover plants this season (I hope!).

Looking ahead at Wednesday and Thursday, bright sunshine is on tap with warm temperatures! I'm ready for them to stay.

Rainfall has ceased across the midstate and we'll slowly begin the process of drying out. We've got patchy fog here on the Cumberland Plateau. Cookeville webcam showing fog and mist. Clouds will be stubborn and will hang around most of the day. Temperatures will struggle to get in the middle 50's.
