$300,000,000,000.00 in funds for mortgage aid.  I hope this doesn’t get passed for several reasons.  First of all, it’s such an obvious attempt by both Democrats and Republicans to pander.  This probably wouldn’t be happening were this not an election year.

WASHINGTON - Federal authorities announced Thursday that more than 400 real estate industry players have been indicted since March — including dozens over the past two days — in nationwide crackdown on mortgage fraud that has contributed to the country’s housing crisis.
The FBI put the losses to homeowners and other borrowers who were victims in the schemes at over $1 billion.

CNN reporting some additional info on the measure to assist foreclosure victims I posted here yesterday. I tell ya, no matter what kinds of proposals our vaunted "representatives" come up with, there loopholes that leave the poor and middle class out in the cold - and in this case, literally - big enough to drive an ocean liner through.
