As a veteran (Desert Storm) myself, I get cranky when Democrats tuck tail on issues related to the military. As Brandon Friedman states eloquently on the Vote Vets blog, there is no reason to cede authority on military matters just because of John McCain's service during Vietnam.

Military service doesn't matter, wait, yes it does, wait, no it doesn't

When Bill Clinton ran for president against two war heroes in 1992 and 1996, we were told by the left that military service, or a lack of it, didn't matter when choosing a commander-in-chief. In 2004, when John Kerry, who served in Vietnam, ran against George W. Bush, who served in the Texas National Guard, we were told that it does matter.
