Most of yesterday and today have been a blur. Right after lunch yesterday, Casey and I received a call from a friend. It seems that 3 little kittens came to their loading dock, on an 18 wheeler from Montgomery, Alabama. They needed somewhere for them to go FAST, before Animal Control picked them up. They had already told the folks that they would take them back and just put them down.

Pets are the latest victims of the struggling economy.

The Metro Animal Shelter is reporting a jump in the number of surrendered or abandoned animals, as fewer people can afford them.

Typically, most of the animals that come into the shelter are picked up by animal control.

I have been following articles in The Daily Herald regarding the situation with the animal shelter and am compelled to respond after reading Glen Hasse’s statements in today’s (June 11) paper. Mr. Hasse states that he was shocked to find out that the shelter was over budget and found out only last week.

Franklin , Tennessee - BVD wanted to write this one , butt I said " NO ". Over the weekend , a couple was doing yard work , like cutting grass and trimming tree limbs. While cutting off a large and dangerous limb , Janet Ledbetter put her face under the chainsaw , yelling to stop it , that was her tree. Yep , she did.

It took about one day for Senator Tommy Kilby to back off and offer some new spin for a bill he proposed to make it illegal to own any bull terrier type dog. Still, Sen. Kilby and others are spending time working on legislation to deal not only with violent dog attacks but cruelty to animals.
