• British retail chain Woolworths is to stop carrying CD singles outside of one-offs. Because of downloading's impact, only half the chain's stores currently stock CD singles. And, of course, the retailer has launched the obligatory download store that offers music, movies and games.

Trans World, which operates f.y.e., Suncoast and other retail chains, posted a $11.8 million first quarter loss. Total sales dropped 19% to $233 million and same-store revenue dropped 6%.

Digital Audio Insider took a look at the inflation-adjusted price of a download at iTunes (and has a nice multicolor graph to boot). In 2003 dollars (since iTunes was launched in 2003) a download today costs only $0.86. If download prices had risen with inflation, they would now cost $1.14.
