First, the NBN afterparty on Saturday night has been moved to The Cannery Ballroom. (It was originally booked for City Hall, and we had already printed our Music Manual insert for this week's Scene when we got the update.)

I feel that if a problem exists then the first thing you should do is overcome the feeling that the government should fix it. In many ways going to the government can complicate the problem. I came across a short few lines in an article that might be of interest to you, and fits in nicely with my view that people should try first to fix things.

Previously on Battlestar Galactica, we learned that the Executive Committee of Historic Germantown, Inc. balked at passing a Salemtown Neighbors petition among their membership; that petition would encourage the state to implement overnight security measures at Bicentennial Mall.

today i spent time online with tim & others in tim's organized weekly skypecast. it was cool, my microphone worked the whole time this week. the first time i plugged into the skypecast the microphone crapped out after about 10 minutes and i did the chat thing.

To celebrate his own birthday and honor the musical legacy of Otha Turner, attorney Bill Ramsey will host his annual block party, Ode to Otha, Saturday, May 31 from 2 to 9 p.m. at 1711 Sweetbriar Ave.

I'm hearing that Historic Germantown has severed ties this year with the two participating churches over where last year's Oktoberfest block party proceeds went. As a result their annual Oktoberfest "brand" is the casuality.
