Earlier this week, when Brewers 1B Prince Fielder shoved P Manny Parra during a 6-3 loss to Cincinnati, all the coverage (in print, and on ESPN, etc.) was about how the Brewers were a team in “free fall” and about how awful things were going suddenly, and about how just a week earlier the team had been tied for first with the Cubs, but was now five games back.

As I write this, we've gotten more than 230 story comments on the Tyson / Eid al-Fitr story. That doesn't count the comments I've had to delete because of profanity, ethnic slurs or what have you.

I was expecting great things from this week's show at the Ryman but I have to admit overall it was mixed. We had one superb group, one good group and one group that I expected a better show from.

I just got an email from a local liberal activist imploring me to call Rep. Cooper and ask him to oppose the compromised FISA bill. Me thinks that won't happen, considering Rep. Cooper has supported the original version of the Administration's bill all along, and a member of his staff confirms to me that he is likely to support this compromised measure.

Retiring Nashville Scene Editor Liz Garrigan, speaking to Freddie O’Connell and Mary Mancini on Liberadio(!), says she likes Nashville but doesn’t love it. Nashville, with its mix of big city and small town, tends to have, in Garrigan’s estimation, a chip on it’s shoulder.
