I remember when President Kennedy committed to putting someone on the moon. The Space Race launched a lot more than just rockets to the moon. It launched science and engineering as the jobs of the future.

Not exactly the simile that comes to mind . . .

Last August the USA launched a Delta 7952 launch vehicle with a robot inside.

The robot is called the Phoenix Mars Lander. Getting to Mars is not much of a problem...Landing on Mars and being capable of functioning afterward is quite the accomplishment.

Here's to a safe landing for the Phoenix Mars Lander. I'll have my fingers crossed tonight.

I'm so ready to learn what Phoenix can tell us. Will Mars show signs of habitability? I really hope so!
