Well, I suppose if Gunner can post on economics, I can post on gardening. If we're really heading into the next Great Depression, gardening might soon become more than a hobby for a lot of folks. So... let's jump in and get dirty!

First of all - it's Fall! I'm originally from South Florida (zone 10!) so this is the time I would be planting if I was still there.

I think both candidates failed miserably at the debate. They tried to ignore the elephant in the room — the crashing economy — and deflect the questions with standard bullet points gleaned from months of focus groups.

Congressman Marsha Blackburn voted no on the bailout bill, but it passed in the House.

I’ll be checking in on our other Congressmen.  Congressman Wamp no doubt voted yes as he was riding the media circuit pronouncing his switch.

So, the "bailout" / "rescue plan" / "insert your term" - got a giant FAIL.

I was against it. I'd rather have the short-term pain of allowing this situation to play out than have my kids and grand kids deal with the long-term consequences of the government's immediate and expensive band aid.

What sense have you made of this white hot mess? What do you want to happen?
