The late Governor Frank Clement is honored for his role in the desegregation of Tennessee:

The governor and his family paid the price for that heroic action 52 years ago, recalled Clement’s son, Bob Clement, during ceremonies at the Green McAdoo Cultural Center and Museum.

I feel as though I should care more, but I can't get that worked up about it. I'm just ready to find out, get the whole she-bang of the convention over with, and start with some real general election campaigning.

There are several people Obama could pick. Each one has their own pros and cons, and none of them are a deal-breaker for me:

Phil Bredesen's stock appears to be falling in the veepstakes as another Southern governor's rises. Virginia's Tim Kaine is all the buzz lately, said to be "very, very high" on Barack Obama's short list.

I must say I read with interest the news this morning that a Democratic 52nd State House District candidate voted in the 1992 Republican primary.

Jeff Woods thinks there is no doubt that our Governor is angling for a spot on the Democratic ticket:

A Memphis TV station has joined the speculation that Phil Bredesen could run with Obama or Clinton in November. The governor had this to say: “I’m not pursuing the job.

Glen Dean says that based on history neither of the Democrats presently running for President can be victorious in the general election:

I have my own opinion of Huckabee, the political candidate, as a Christian and a separate opinion of what kind of president he might make. I cannot help but flashback to the author of "Why Not the Best" and similar feelings for another southern governor's campaign in 1976. My thoughts today are a more denominationally focused.
