Fred Thompson is neck and neck with David Petraus in the Veepstakes contest going on over at MSNBC.

As of this posing Fred is leading narrowly 51%-49%. Lamar Alexander, the victim of a bad draw, is holding his own with a respectable 39% against Tim Pawlenty,  seen by many as a legitimate frontrunner for the nod.
