In a sudden fit of journalism, the CP is focused this morning less on boostering May Town Center and more on objective reporting about the feasibility of a bridge, seeming to get the perspective of every side affected by the possibility.

With no fewer than ten candidates to fill the interim spot left open by former Sheriff Billy Long's resignation, the Hamilton County Commission has struggled to locate a majority vote for any one of the contenders. It didn't help that the deal was: if you get appointed as interim, you don't run in the August special election. (Full disclosure: I support such a measure.)

Some people want to get involved. They want to live in a better community and they go about doing something about it. Some work with children, some help social services like the food bank, and some plant trees.

Rene Drain is one such person and through the town's Beautification Committee she has worked on several projects. One is the building of trail head projects. One was in the Sharp Springs Natural Area and in November she plants, dug, and made a nice area for people to visit.

Gov. Bredesen wants US to be sensible about his bunker.
