economic uncertainty

Rep. Jim Cooper, on of the first politicians of note to formally endorse Barack Obama in May 2007, shares his thoughts:

Economic uncertainty creates behavioral variation in business. When consumer activity shifts it creates uncertainty in markets. When markets are uncertain it creates business uncertainty. When business is uncertain about the market management reacts with a “whack the mole” mentality.

In cleaning out the hundreds of e-mails that amassed during my recent vacation that took me off the grid I came across an interesting study. (By the way, I highly recommend a complete break from email, voice mail, etc. at least once a year -- you will be amazed at how calming it can be).
