I just can’t believe it. On Wednesday, the kids are going back to school. Summer break is officially over.

This morning Mr. Beale and I headed out for a late breakfast at a local eatery not too far from the house. Who is sitting behind us but Sen. Bob Corker, dining with what appeared to be a staffer. Plenty of folks were stopping by his table to say hello, so when we had finished our meal and I saw the senator was still there, I screwed up my courage to do likewise.

Summer break is about 80 days. I think that Monday or Tuesday was officially the halfway point, but since it's summer I am a bit too lazy to pull out a calendar and find out for sure.

Nonetheless, we are on the downhill slide and we still have a lot of summer stuff to do.

I took a few days to pretend I was actually on summer break, with nothing to do but sleep late, watch TV, go to the pool, eat popsicles... Then I remembered-I'm a mom, mom's don't get breaks. Oh well, back to Mom reality, driving H all over the place, packing for basketball camp, motivating (nagging) her to start her summer reading, grocery shopping...
