Though no one can fully know the inner heart of another, I am as certain as I can be that my father would have been overjoyed to see U.S. Sen. Barack Obama receive the nomination of a major political party for the office of President.

The chief deputy sheriff of Maury County retired Monday after 13-years service, Sheriff Enoch George said.

It’s impossible to condense Ashley Brown’s lifetime of service to just a few words, George said. The sheriff said he met Brown in the late 1960s as a laborer at Monsanto. Brown was the lead man in charge of George’s crew, he said.
