We had Chinese for dinner and, as we were eating the fortune cookies, we taught my parents the delight of following every fortune reading with “in bed.”

My dad’s fortune was something like “You will travel for pleasure and business… in bed.”

Barack Obama gives a speech on the economy and the Dow goes up nearly 1,ooo points.

John McCain gives a speech on the economy and the Dow is down nearly 250 points.

Just sayin', don't cha know, doggonit.

What would Charlie Gibson have said to  FDR about his radio address in the spring of 1941 when FDR said, “Today the whole world is divided between human slavery and human freedom—between pagan brutality and the Christian ideal. We choose human freedom—which is the Christian ideal. No one of us can waver for a moment in his courage or his faith.”

Health insurance is the bane of my existence. If I didn’t need health insurance, I sometimes wonder how my life would be different because I think I would have probably gone down a different path in the last five years.

Here we see why employer-based health insurance just does not work.

So, this weekend, I watched both The Covenant (The Butcher’s Elevator Pitch: The Craft for dudes!) and The Wicker Man.  Both were delightfully terrible.

After starting out this Christmas break abysmally sick, I’ve recovered enough to return to public. Ha.  So this morning, about five girls in my Girl Scout troop, along with my daughter, another Mom, and the divine M. (formerly known as Daily Diablogger) and her gang volunteered at Second Harvest Food Bank in Nashville.  There were 13 of us who worked practically nonstop for almost 3 hours.  And what did we do?
