No, I'm not referring to the upcoming DNC convention. It's the temperature.

Around the metro area, Friday may be rainy with a high predicted to plummet to a
record-low high of 61 degrees — that’s 26 degrees below the normal high of 87 degrees for mid-August.

We'll see highs in the mid 90's here in Cookeville and as always, the counties to our west will be even hotter. Relief is on the way as rain is forecasted Wednesday and Thursday. Highs on Friday and Saturday could be (and I emphasize could) in the lower 80's. Very nice!

Tight pressure gradients ahead of a front will cause winds to increase significantly today. 15-25 mph will be the rule and we can't rule out gusts of 35 mph.

Temperatures will be very warm...approaching 80° today and Friday.

Be careful if you head to the lake or drive a high-profile vehicle.
