I've decided to leave Wednesday morning. I am gonna attempt to drive straight through to Western NY, but have places in mind I can crash with friends if I get too tired.

According to Jeff Woods, "Chamber of Commerce types" lobbied the School Board and the Re-districting Task Force to exempt Germantown, Hope Gardens, Salemtown, and Downtown from the MNPS redistricting plan because allegedly white parents here do not want to send their kids to school with black kids.

One of the questions asked most often this weekend was "what is going on at the rules and bylaws committee?" I even got asked the question by a cab driver from (I believe from the Caribbean) who saw me carrying a YDA poster. Despite the sense of suspense that the media wanted to portray, there really weren't any major surprises.
