Little Suzy had a box of very small kittens that she was trying to give away, so she had them out on the street corner with a sign "FREE KITTENS" next to them. Suddenly a long line of big black cars came up with a policeman on a motorcycle in front. The cars all stopped and a tall man stepped out from the biggest car.

Today my little girl turns 8 years old!

On Saturday we had the usual gathering of selves and stuff for soccer. Because we had a freak snow in March and then flooding in April (cue REM’s End of the World as We Know It), the spring soccer season is like the Energizer Bunny. It keeps going, and going, and going.

Miss C is very disappointed to be missing a classmate’s birthday party Sunday at one of those bouncy emporium chains.

I’m glad I didn’t then. 

And, not that I would ever call someone else’s cute little girl of, oh, about 7 or so a immensely annoying little brat, BUT…

The Immensely Annoying Little Brat who lives across and 2 houses up the street from us was literally BEGGING me to come over and apply duct tape to her sweet, adorable little mouth on Thursday evening.

Birthdays galore today for two of my favorite girls…

One…my little niece, Mattie, turned 3 today.

I watched The Reaping last night. 

I was left with some questions, questions which get to the heart of the movie (that’s B-speak for “spoilers ahead”).

1.  Is the house in The Reaping the same as the house in The Skeleton Key?

A man is walking through the zoo when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion’s cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to devour her right in front the little girl’s screaming parents.

With our stomachs full of breakfast, we climbed aboard the bus and headed out for the sugar plantation.  Chris, our guide from Compassion‘s Dominican Republic office, prepared us for what we were about to see.
