I've written in the past about my obsession with exercise. I think it boils down to the fact that I like the way it feels when I've had a good workout, and it has helped prevent the weight gain that most of my relatives have experienced in their adult years. I love having a goal, like a marathon, a century, or a triathlon, and training for working to see the completion of that goal.

For weeks and weeks, I’ve been trying with all my might to convince my friends that Valentine’s Day meant nothing to me and it didn’t bother me that there wasn’t a valentine in sight. I realize now, in that ever-so-clear hindsight, that I was actually trying to talk myself into indifference over the Feast of St. Valentine. I was not successful.

What is it about Wine Club?

When I wrote over the weekend about our wine drinking I heard from a wine fan. Earlier I had written about Oliver wine and heard from another wine fan.  Today I read a romantic post about the images drinking a glass of wine conjured up in the mind of the drinker.

I didn’t link to any of these people because I am not putting them down, but it does make me wonder.

I finally got a haircut and highlights on Friday. My last haircut was in November and with the awesome tri-tone roots I was sporting, I was one missed shampoo from looking like a homeless woman. I’d have to look a my calendar to see when I last got highlights. I was overdue for them in December but having to write an unexpected check to the hospital for almost $400 just a few weeks before Christmas i

“So tell me what’s been going on around here,” I said to my mom shortly after I had unpacked some of my things and accepted a glass of wine. “Whatever happened with that country club battle?”

“Well,” Mom said confidentially, “it’s still going on. And it has split this neighborhood right in two.” She sighed heavily and I felt bad for her.
