In one of the least surprising stories of the year, Metro Police are set to charge Kelley Cannon with the murder of her husband.

This week in an exclusive interview with the Scene, Cannon offered her account of what happened on the last night of her husband's life. She says he called her, told her that he loved her and insisted she come over.

"I have broader dreams about creating a fund, or some type of program that funds travel aid throughout the county.”

I've spent considerable sums getting folks who have a place to go and/or a job prospect waiting for them elsewhere on a bus to another city.  Working in conjunction with Helen Pace over at Traveler's Aid, together we've sent quite a few folks off to what we hope are better futures elsewhere.

Spectators for 4th of July fireworks in downtown Knoxville had to seek shelter before the show even started last night thanks to some fireworks from Mother Nature. Some comments on the KNS website suggest officials goofed because the brunt of the storm missed downtown and many left for nothing.
