SPRING HILL — The city’s first ever full-scale fireworks show is scheduled for the night of July 4th at The Crossings of Spring Hill.

Though the sale and ignition of fireworks in the city limits is banned, the law will be lifted between noon-11 p.m. Friday to allow residents to celebrate the national holiday, Fire Chief Jim Swindle said.

SH raises property taxes

SPRING HILL — Residents decried incompetence in city officials before the Board of Mayor and Aldermen resurrected a property tax Monday.

The board eliminated the tax in 2005 and has been operating on sales tax and impact fees since then. But to fund its $22-million budget, the city’s Finance Committee said the most prudent solution was to revive the tax.
