I don’t think our method for electing Congress works. I really don't think our method for voting for Presidential candidates works.

I think the problem is that with districting being what it is, we get stuck in the two party rut. The problem with this rut is that, more often than not, we end up voting against someone rather than for someone and that is no way to elect leaders.

It has occurred to me that perhaps all presidential candidates should be caught on tape without their knowledge. It’s perhaps the only way we get to see the real person behind all the predetermined sound bites, stump speeches, slogans and mantras about “change”.

While I tend to believe the news reports of Obama's economic advisor telling Canadian officials that the Senator's comments on trade are just rhetoric; I do love the NDP leader Jack Layton's (though Norah O'Donnell says its the Labour Leader...but Canada doesn't have a Labour Party) comments on the matter to Stephen Harper.

Today is election day in Greece, and by far the most impressive thing about it is the fact that in the short span of a month, early elections were called, Parliament was dissolved, campaigning took place, and at 7pm today it will be all over. Meanwhile, Americans are having to deal with the Longest Presidential Election Campaign Ever, and I have to say I am a little bit jealous that the Greeks can get things done so lickety split.
