Putting together my "backpack journalism" kit for Denver, I figured I ought to have some kind of video camera. I don't care much for video, but I expect there will be some "YouTube moments" at the convention so I thought I should be prepared. I ended up getting a Sanyo Xacti VPC-CG9 pocket digi-camcorder.

I obviously wasn’t clear in my last post, but what I’d meant was that it was about time to pack up for the trip home, and the baby had just fallen asleep. I try very much not to let her be unhappy for our 30+ minute commute, because there’s really nothing I can do for the fussy baby in the car but let her be unhappy.

We organized a Great American Clean Up event this morning and cleaned up Newsom Station Road in Nashville. Only a handful of folks turned out, after a night of thunderstorms, but we amassed quite a pile of trash.

Shark Boy hops out of the Land Yacht truck each morning and I watch him shrug on his backpack and walk toward the school. He looks so small, in his little uniform, surrounded by all the bigger kids. And he seems too little to be marching confidently away from me like that, without looking back.
