Staffers and volunteers gathered on Patten Parkway in downtown Chattanooga Saturday for the kickoff to "Vote for Change," a national voter registration effort sponsored by the Barack Obama campaign. Organizers say some 55 volunteers gathered 140 voter registration forms in over two dozen locations throughout Hamilton County.

The other big election news comes out of Pakistan, where the ruling party lost.

Pakistan’s ruling party conceded defeat Tuesday as early poll results indicated that the country’s opposition looked set to deal a crushing blow to President Pervez Musharraf.

Last weekend, I pulled a little stunt to make a point about voter ID laws. I chose to use the gun rights movement as an example here, because many of their legitimate complaints about various gun control laws (e.g., that they harm the law abiding more than the potential criminals, that they’re ineffective, etc.) apply to voter ID laws. But in the case of voter ID laws, these arguments are even stronger.

It doesn’t bother David Oatney one bit that caucus goers in Iowa tomorrow will likely be a minute percentage of eligible voters. In fact, as far as he is concerned, that is as it should be:
