I never got had much faith in the 12-stepper stuff. I'm not knocking it; the program has helped zillions of folks get a grip on their addictions, but I couldn't get behind the "higher power" philosophy, no matter how they tried to open it to include any God-figure.

A new movie opening this weekend at the IFC Center is a film-festival favorite called "Shotgun Stories" and I am happy to see my old friend Mike Abbott playing a major part and wanted to help spread the word about this film. It's slated for a Nashville screening at the Belcourt in June.

Urban Housing Solutions Journeys Of Hope Program Information

The Journey of Hope program provides affordable housing to persons in recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction. There are currently 76 (seventy six) apartment units at four different locations and two full-time staff to provide support and assistance to residents.

Application to the Journeys of Hope program is made by advance appointment only. An individual who wishes to apply for the program must:

1. Have a primary diagnosis of "substance use disorder." *
