Cranking out the hits

As long as the potlucks and picnics of May continue, the greatest hits of Junior League cookbooks past and present will roll out of my kitchen on colorful disposable plates. It’s the kind of food you’re somehow supposed to feel guilty about, because it’s full of short cuts and prepared or ready-to-use products. As if those were bad.

The weather has been so nice here for the last few days that I've been taking advantage of it and eating lunch out al fresco. One of my favorite places to do so is PM on Belmont Boulevard nearby Belmont University.

The new Harris Teeter in Belle Meade will have a device to take your cart to your car. It’s like a parking lot conveyor belt. Damn.

What I want to know: does this mean my wife will no longer circle the parking lot like a vulture for 30 minutes to ensure a spot closer to the store?

I have an embarrassment of riches in love.

And for once, I decided to just enjoy it, and not make a big deal out of it here.

When I got home with the kids yesterday, we went to work.  I’ve kind of let the house go in the last couple of weeks, and I know it has affected Lintilla’s mood.  So, we cranked up Hannah Montana and got to cleaning.  It didn’t take long (I could REALLY get used to having some help around the house).  Then, I started dinner.

I'm not Swiss, but I was recently faced with the challenge of what to do with a heaping pile of shredded potatoes and shredded cheese after helping a friend test graters (more on that when I'm able to reveal our findings).

We tried a new chicken recipe last night that was really easy to prepare and tasted great. I get so tired of cooking the same things over and over so I’m thrilled to have found a recipe that I consider a “keeper”, especially when it involves chicken. Scott doesn’t particularly care for chicken all that much but he really liked this dish :=)

Just a fraction of the goodies pouring into the office are pictured here. I’m powerless to resist sugar. So a lot of what you see is in my belly heading for my hips.

I may have to cave in and buy some big-waisted “eatin’ pants.”

I'm generally not one of those vegetarians that eats a lot of meat substitutes. I didn't much like meat before becoming a vegetarian, so I don't see the need to replace it.
