I haven't updated this week because I have, quite frankly, eaten very little that was worthy of note. And what I did eat that was noteworthy occurred last night and both items were prepared by friends. I ate three banana macadamia nut with cream cheese frosting cupcakes (yes, three which is why I didn't sleep last night) and some beet salad. Yep, beet salad.

On Wednesday, Jan 30, Rev. Stacy Rector and I were planning on speaking together at Northside Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, TN. Stacy would be handling the majority of the talk including the Biblical reflection of why the death penalty was wrong. The 3-year-old and I are sort of becoming regulars every couple of weeks now at Zackies hot dog establishment down in Germantown at 5th Av. & Madison St. Tonight was an exceptionally fine night to sit on their street-side patio and down a Chicago-style (brightest green relish I've ever seen) and my own favorite, a dog with their fresh cole slaw and spicy mustard. People-watching across the street at Germantown Cafe is almost as good as the celery salt.

We spent a whirlwind 2 days in Pittsburgh last weekend to watch the Steelers cream the Bills. DH is from there, so we got a chance to meet his grandfather's new ladyfriend. She is so sweet! And he (called "Big Gar" by his grandson) was adept at his gentlemanly duties, opening the car door for the lady, picking up the dinner tab (but using a coupon - hey, he's on a fixed income!), and holding her hand during the entire car ride. I'm glad they're having a good time together.
