Check out this huge stag beetle I saw while watering the trees and bushes yesterday. It’s almost 2 inches long.
According to what I found online, these are beneficial beetles that help decompose dead trees on the forest floor.

WSMV and the Tennessean reported (here and here) on the discovery Friday of a one-day-old infant girl hidden among some bushes on McDonald drive in Nashville, which is a street that runs just north of Briley Parkway, near Murfreesboro Road.

It was a dark and stormy night...

Beautiful Alice's husband, Handsome Jeffrey, was in Indianapolis at the beck and call of his employers. Her two adorable littles were being stuffed with fruit pies at Gramma's and something was skulking around her bushes.

"In this weather?" I said. "I'll bet it's a cat or a dog or something trying to get some cover from the rain."

The dream of Smyrna seems to be a well trimmed yard, a quiet neighbor dog, and a sedan car in every driveway all in a Leave it to Beaver setting. Well June Cleaver never existed, the beaver was an actor, and this isn’t Hollywood. A set piece neighborhood that only exists in the dreams of the TV viewers or the Town planners that are seeing our future, and it is all I cannot bare.
