We’ve been moved into our new home for about one month now. I’m sorry I haven’t done well at keeping you up to date on how things have been going here, but you can tell from the lack of updating that it has been busy. I’ve discussed our decision to buy on the blog a bit, but I’ll probably try and articulate it more in future posts. For now, I wanted to start informing my non-homeowner friends of somethings I wasn’t prepared for. This might turn into a serie

At some point today, the furnace stopped coming on periodically to blow heat, even though the house was noticeably cooling off. After a few hours, we tried switching the setting on the thermostat from “Auto” to “Fan,” and air did start coming through the vents, but only cool air, even though the temperature on the thermostat was set high.

We tried setting the heat extra high in case some kind of temperature gauge in the system may have been off-kilter; we tried

last year,
for Thanksgiving,

We had a blazing wood fire,
A golden-brown bird roasting,
And love was so plentiful,
I thought it would lastforever.

This year,
I'll turn the furnace up
a degree or two.
Make a Salami sandwich,
and drink a bottle of wine.

last year!
