edited to add:  After looking at more pictures online, I determined that the frogs I found today are actually Southern Leopard Frogs, not Pickerel Frogs.  The difference is that the Southern Leopard frog has a longer snout then the Pickerel Frog.  After comparing the frogs I found today with pictures

At one of our baseball games the other night, a younger sibling of one of our players brought a stuffed frog that resembled the dancing, singing frog in one of those Merry Meoldies cartoons that we watched when we were growing up. My friend dug it up on YouTube, and I finally got around to watcing it yesterday. I had forgotten just how good some of those old cartoons really were.

Winston was from northwest Tennessee and contacted me about a year ago. We had a few emails back and forth and I met him once at Mothership Barbecue. He was always lovely and so encouraging.

His colors would match up to a lichen if he were on a tree, but he had decided to take up residence in the pool of water formed by a depression in the canvas cover.
