In a taste test competition to end all competitions, I have found that the dipped cones from MacDonalds do not taste as good as those from Dairy Queen. (I know, you’d think it was obvious, but now ou know for sure.) Neither the chocolate (although McD’s seemed thicker, it tasted more artificial) nor the ice cream is as good. Done so you don’t have to endure it.

Do you go through phases with magazines? I bet I’ve subscribed and unsubscribed to Outside, Esquire and Gourmet three times each. After a few years, the tone and approach seem homogenous and I look for a new perspective. There have been similar phases with Cook’s Illustrated, Food & Wine, and Cooking Light.

I just read over at TennViews that,

"MoveOn.org is organizing a 'Bush-McCain Challenge' in cities across America at noon tomorrow May 28th. People on the street will take a 'Pepsi-Coke' style challenge to see if they can identify who said it - Bush or McCain."

Easing back into posting this week I’m going to introduce the Nashville rank for this month: Nashville Local Beers. Back in October Ben organized a Nashville brewery crawl where the people attending sampled and ranked beer. He wrote an amazing 6 part series exploring the beers of each of the local breweries
visited: Yazoo, Big River, Blackstone and Boscos.
