It looks like the Associated Press is backing down - a bit - in its attack on bloggers who link to and quote from AP stories. The New York Times reports that the AP says it will now set guidelines for how much of its content bloggers may use without infringing the AP's copyright.

Yesterday a court ruled in favor of record labels and gave an interpreted of the "making available" argument. In a nutshell, the judge ruled that placing files in a shared folder constitutes publication of a copyrighted work under Section 106(3) of the Copyright Act.

As you know the issue of the Memphis Flyer and doctored photo of me has gotten pretty big. It just got bigger.

I just received a call from the Knoxville News sentinel telling me to take the pictures down. At first I thought it was a friend playing a joke on me (my friends like to do that from time to time) but I was able to confirm it was the KNS. I asked why? I was told it was copyright protected.
