I'm not going to pretend to understand all the economics of the Wall Street collapse. I understand basic supply and demand and how the stock market works, but I couldn't tell you about the intricacies of the credit market.

The NY Times article on readjusting globalization that I quoted earlier today referenced the economist idea of "the neighborhood effect," which is reducing transportation costs by moving industry closer to component suppliers and to target consumers.

The prospect of bioterrorist attacks was not yet pressing the popular consciousness. He had the antidote for an attack and limitless earning potential. All he needed was a catalyst to cause mass panic to get his product stockpiled. It's the simple law of supply and demand.

I'm not usually an optimist about things these days in the business world but I actually have some optimism about the surge in oil and gas prices. 

In keeping with the theme of the previous post, the AP claims that the GOP's desire to drill for more oil and the Democrats' plan to levy a windfall profits tax in oil companies wouldn't do much assuage the price of gaoline. Well, the AP's half-right.
