I’m sitting here while everyone else has gone to bed watching Die Hard on TV. I mean, it’s stupid. Not as bad as drill here, drill now stupid, mind you, but close. I have probably seen it a dozen times so far. And I’ll probably watch it a few more.

There are certain personalities, who, over the course of human events find themselves amidst controversy. There are certain polarizing figures in American culture who solicit only one response from the impartial third party...love or hate.

Barack Obama is certainly one of those people.

While I had fun teaching the kids the word bioluminescence a few weeks ago just because I think it's cute and funny when little kids use big words, I didn't purposely teach my three-year-old daughter the word solace recently. She did, however, casually (and correctly) drop it in a sentence today at the pool. Her mom and I are big readers, so I guess she got it from one of us.

Not so tasty. After getting their asses handed to them — at home — by a team that’s the very definition of “perennial losers,” I guess my hopes of seeing the Brewers in the playoffs this year were proven unrealistic today.

Perhaps 8 years of the most inept presidency in the history of this nation has blurred any vision we might have to see past the petty solace that at least we will no longer be embarrassed by the occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.  However, there used to be a dream of America based on liberty, rule of law, and virtue that seems to have collapsed under the iron fist&
