I'm still recovering from Bonnaroo. It's fun, but for an old goat like me, it's a lot of work to be out in the sun and mostly on your feet for 8-12 hours a day for three days straight. I'm lucky I have a desk job.

Find more posts like this: I guess I haven’t mentioned that I found out that I don’t have cancer. I know I never really posted that it was a possibility, but what with the thyroid nodules and all, there was indeed a chance. But the biopsy came back benign, thank goodness. Now they tell me!4

Find more posts like this: Did you know that there are substances called “goitrogens” which can inhibit the production of thyroid hormone and, the theory goes, contribute to the enlargement of the thyroid? Maybe you’d heard of this, but it’s news to me. A week of unremarkable food8

Find more posts like this: I haven't updated this week because I have, quite frankly, eaten very little that was worthy of note. And what I did eat that was noteworthy occurred last night and both items were prepared by friends. I ate three banana macadamia nut with cream cheese frosting cupcakes (yes, three which is why I didn't sleep last night) and some beet salad. Yep, beet salad. The Veggie Cafe11

Find more posts like this: I finally--finally!--made it over to the Veggie Cafe for lunch this week. It's quite a haul from West Nashville to their location in Inglewood, but this all vegetarian/vegan enterprise is something I certainly want to support. Though I almost missed it since I didn't see a sign. But that's not really the point of this post. Expanding Tastes11

Find more posts like this: ...that I don't like carrots. There are lots of vegetables that I don't like, but when I was growing up, my mother stuck a carrot in my hand at least three times a week. I was scarred. Kids these days have it so easy with their baby carrots. Back in my day, I had to suffer full-grown carrots with their bitter cores and all. Complaints fell on deaf ears. Have you ever had so much going on that your mind becomes like the bits of tofu you find at the bottom of a bowl of miso soup? Yeah, that’s me. I keep rattling on about rural newspapers this week. I’ve been busy in the non-virtual world and I’m thinking that folks might not understand a few issues of what we do and how we do it. |
