As a lifelong United Methodist, I abhor gambling. Nonetheless, I must confess that I had $7.00 riding on Super Bowl Squares. As much as I enjoyed watching Eli Manning drive the Giants down the field for the game-winning touchdown, I would have won $50.00 (well, $43.00 including the initial investment) if he hadn’t. Maybe God was trying to tell me something.

Well, December has come and gone, and it occurred to me the other day that we’d not had the traditional Murfreesboro District United Methodist layspeakers’ and lay leaders’ banquet. For some reason, I had it in my head that the banquet was held during the holidays, although I see from my blog post last year that it was in February.
