It won't open for a few years and hasn't even been fully approved yet, but the Music City Center has already booked its first convention.

Yesterday, one report pointed out that that there wasn't an election-related gathering of the GOP for Baptist pastors across the street from the SBC annual meeting. Personally, I see this as one of the more positive things that did not occur in Indianapolis.

I wish Johnny Hunt the very best as he seeks to guide the Southern Baptist Convention for a season as president.

We have good crop of candidates in the pool who are seeking the presidency of the Southern Baptist Convention. This year's mix includes some predictable faces, great pastoral leaders, and wonderfully gifted men.

While the Democratic Party has been busy tearing itself apart, John McCain has used the time to strengthen his relationships with those on the right who were previously tepid in their support of his candidacy including members of the Nashville Religious Right:

Nashville is the buckle of the Bible belt.

I read (yet) another report claiming mis-deeds from Dr. Jerry Sutton, Senior Pastor at Two Rivers Baptist Church. There are members who are claiming all sorts of financial irregularities and have gone to court to gain access to financial records.

There is a movement afoot within the Southern Baptist Convention to buy into the global warming hoax. Last year, the SBC adopted a resolution stating that efforts to regulate greenhouse gas emissions were dangerous and that there was not enough scientific evidence to support the idea of global warming. That was a good approach.
