It was both encouraging and yet, a bit surreal, to have had this discussion with The Much Younger Trophy Wife on the way home from church yesterday morning and then to see it played out on the InterWebz.

Ever since I wrote this column two years ago and got this reaction, I've gotten recurring questions from friends, readers, and family members.

"Do you ever run into those Green Hills moms?"

The hypocrisy of Governor Sarah Palin’s whining critics is truly stunning.

Like most bloggers, I enjoy the sound of my own voice and enjoy reading my own opinions. If I didn’t, I suppose I wouldn’t have any business blogging. I believe I have something relevant to say and that I say it well. That so many of you come by to read each day tends to reinforce that belief.

I first read about this project several months ago. I didn’t have the time to do much research on it and so I didn’t get to posting on it then. But it sounded interesting and the fact the US Military was looking into it lent it that much more credibility.

Given the current environment of political debate in our country in which it is increasingly acceptable to go beyond disagreeing with and contending with an individual to drag the families, friends and associates of the speaker into the debate despite their obvious non-involvement, I thought it necessary to put up the following disclaimer.

Mr. P and I were talking not long ago about something related to retirement. It was a passing conversation, not a big discussion.

He mentioned my eventual retirement from the company I work for, where I've been for 10 years, and blah blah about my pension benefits and retirement account.

I’m in Chicago on business for a couple of days. But The Much Younger Trophy Wife is home. I mentioned in my comments on Jay’s original post that, as a home schooling family, we’d be weighing in on the issue. The Much Younger Trophy Wife has done the heavy lifting in this regard.
