So, in the book Mad Church Disease, I say something along the lines of there is so much to cover, but it would take volumes and volumes of books to address every possible question or thought relating to burnout.

A happy new year to all. Hoping for a great year for all. Am ready to go back to work. The holidays have worn me out. Too much Christmas. Traded in my storm for am omnia because storm had too many bugs.

Chris Wage has me thinking about Christina Aguilera. She’s got a great set of pipes, there’s no doubt about it, but she hasn’t seemed to figure out that there’s such a thing as too much.

Parenting involves lots of responsibility and decision making. Actually as I mentally run down the list of things that fall solely to the dad, it seems to me that nearly every decision is mom's and frankly she "decides" to let dad's be in charge of only five things: vomit, bugs, spiders, snakes, and chunky milk.

I saw an announcement today that the IntelliJ folks have released an IDE. I think that means that all of the major Java IDEs have now started supporting Ruby in some form or another (Netbeans, Eclipse, IntelliJ, Visual Studio?). I have been using TextMate as long as I have been on a Mac.

Of all the "dad" jobs that I do, like cutting the grass or squashing bugs or changing the oil in the car driving the cars to the place where real men actually change the oil, perhaps my favorite "dad" job is taking out the trash.
