My blogging has taken a back seat to my work schedule recently, and I resent the fact that I have neglected this project. Quite a few people read this blog on a semi-regular basis, and I feel that I am doing them a disservice by not regularly updating it; therefore, I will try my hardest to update this site more frequently.

Puerto Rican Surprise

I know I'm kinda surprised...the Governor of Puerto Rico, Anibal Acevedo-Vila, is going to endorse Barack Obama. It had been somewhat conventional wisdom that Hillary would have this commonwealth locked down if it came to it, but apparently not.

Will this election swell the ranks of Independent voters next time around?

From what I am hearing and reading, it seems both Parties are turning off voters left and right (no pun intended).

Many Republicans express shame at the way GWB has conducted this presidency. They feel like the religious right tends not to represent their beliefs. They think their party has become too identified with right-wing conservative whackos. They are leaving their party to vote Democratic.

Picking a candidate

Party politics are fascinating to me. Why? Because of the organic/complex process by which people pick a candidate. You could call it "messy."

And the process for special interest groups is almost as messy. I've commented extensively on the Club for Growth and its extraordinary opposition to a single candidate--Huckabee, early in the GOP primaries.
