Over the past few days, I have reflected on the generosity and kindness of others. Most noticeably, Americans have dug deep into their pockets to help out the people of coastal Louisiana and Mississippi on two seperate occasions recently - in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina and just a few days ago in the wake of Hurricane Gustav.

Are pit stains and ring-around-the-collar (let alone all the food and beverage spills) demonstrating any less disrespect for a flag than burning it would?
