I say it all the time here; the local Rescue Mission gets a bad rap by some folks on the street, but for every person who's got something bad to say, a dozen more find shelter, food and safety from the night.

This morning around 6:30am I heard a horrible crash just outside my studio in downtown LaFollette at Central Avenue and Indiana Avenue at the turnoff to Highway 25W. I’ve heard that sound before. Usually it’s a fender–bender but today was different.

A semi tractor–trailer hit a car broadside on its driver’s side. I immediately dialed police.

"They're sleeping pretty much toe-to-toe, head-to-head through here"

I just returned from the site of a search for a local elderly man who apparently wandered away from home during the night. Local rescue squad crews are there along with Campbell County deputies searching for a white male in his late 60s, white hair. He evidently took the blanket from his bed when he left his home on Saw Mill Circle in LaFollette around 1:30am this morning.
