extremes

I mentioned a couple of weeks ago on the blog that I I had come to a new realization of “pride” in my life. The source of this pride was a desire to be “loved” at all cost.

I have a lot of friends in ministry that are addicted to this pride-swelling choice as well.

"Clean and safe."

Hmmmm.....

Now where have I heard that phrase used before.....???

Indeed.

And then they should be housed. Period.

Hospitals might be the only place where life is seen in its extremes. Happiness and sadness coexist in hospitals. Deaths and births happen simultaneously. In fact, if you want a more poignant portrayal of this idea, watch Scrubs.

I have frequently heard that Ben Franklin said something along the lines of moderation in all things. Those words actually came from Aristotle, whose principles likely influenced Franklin as he composed his 13 Virtues. The ninth virtue read:

MODERATION: Avoid extremes. Forbear resenting injuries so much as you think they deserve.

I noticed the headline "China battles 'coldest winter in 100 years'" on Yahoo! news, and thought I'd open it up and find the inevitable global warming attribution. Sure enough, paragraph 9 reads "He added the cold snap had caught the country off guard, in an area unprepared for such heavy snow. But climate change could see more extremes in weather in China, Zheng warned."
