Pakistan’s ruling party conceded defeat Tuesday as early poll results indicated that the country’s opposition looked set to deal a crushing blow to President Pervez Musharraf.

Local elections have notoriously low turnout when they stand alone. Unfortunate, but true.

Did not know that. From the AP:

Thompson said there are about 3.3 million active registered voters in Tennessee. The state’s population is just over 6 million.

There are 400,000 inactive voters, who will be purged from the rolls after two federal elections without casting ballots.

About 485,000 people voted in Tennessee’s 2004 presidential primary.
