It’s hard to believe any of the creeps, perverts, and sadists who connived at and then defended torture by the US military and intelligence services under the Bush administration can still maintain their dismissive and amoral charade. Over and over we have heard the reality of waterboarding and other shameful abuses.

I used to have a lot of respect for John McCain. He was the one republican I wouldn't talk ill of because of his five years in Vietnam being tortured.

Sharon Cobb is dismayed that after standing against torture during the campaign, John McCain yesterday reversed course and supported the practice of “waterboarding” in a Senate vote:

Even though I am a liberal Democrat, I have always respected John McCain for his service and loyalty to his country. The man was tortured for five years when he was a prisoner in Vietnam. Five years. Then he came back to further serve his country by running for the U.S. Senate from Arizona. Pretty much for his entire adult life, he's been serving his country in one way or another.
