two thoughts

Down at Sundown in the City last night I tried to get the sad sacks at the Obamessiah pimp table to sell me an Obamessiah mask for $1. They said the price was $2 and there was “no haggling”. Even more shocking, they were selling their cheap-ass Obamessiah t-shirts for $15!

I just got an email from a local liberal activist imploring me to call Rep. Cooper and ask him to oppose the compromised FISA bill. Me thinks that won't happen, considering Rep. Cooper has supported the original version of the Administration's bill all along, and a member of his staff confirms to me that he is likely to support this compromised measure.

I haven’t blogged about church lately because I felt like I wasn’t diplomatic enough when I did to avoid causing rifts in the Church - I didn’t feel like I was healing the rifts by provoking thought.  But I’m gonna try again and ask that, when the discussion starts, we all remember we’re all trying to figure things out, none of us have all the answers, and the point of discussion and even disagreement is to find the answers together.

I don’t know how it happened.  It must have happened so slowly, I didn’t notice.  But I came to a realization that absolutely shocked me today.

I’ve become my dad.

Now, this isn’t a bad thing, I love and respect my father more than anything.  But, because we’ve always been so different (so I thought), it never occurred to me that our lives would end up almost perfectly parallel.  How different are we?
