Let me tell you a story about beaches - predominantly, beaches are that are considered “public domain.” Anyone can walk down the beach, and as they stroll along the water; they pause to enjoy the scenery, and stop to build sand castles. Why? Because sand castles bring joy to others through their beauty, and the people who build them love what they’re doing.

This is the world famous reasonably well-known 'round these parts Johnny Mercer's pier at Wrightsville Beach, NC. Wrightsville Beach sits atop a miles-long dune just north of Wilmington. The beaches at the shore are simply fantastic.

I got an email the other day pointing me to a photoblog of Cartagena, Colombia, the hometown of The Missus. Some very cool photos there, mostly of the older part of the city that is within the walls. Here are a few from our trip in 2006 also.
